Questions we get asked every week.

Straight answers, including the ones about money. If yours isn't here, call and ask.

Do you charge for an estimate?

No charge to come look at a replacement or a remodel and give you a number. Diagnostic work — like running a camera down a sewer line — is billable, because that's the actual work. We tell you which one you're getting before we come out.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. ROC 314662 (CR-37 Plumbing), on file with the Arizona ROC, and insured. Check our license here. Verify any Arizona contractor free at roc.az.gov — do it for every bid you get, not just ours.
What counts as an emergency?

Water spraying or flooding, or sewage backing up into toilets or showers.

Turn off the water or stop running fixtures, and call us.

A dripping faucet at 10pm can wait until morning, and we'll say so rather than charge you an after-hours rate for it.

What does a water heater replacement run?

It depends on the unit, whether the venting and connections meet current code, and whether it's in a closet or a crawlspace. Tankless runs higher and is worth talking through. Call and we'll come look at it first, then tell you what it will take — no charge to come look.

Do you do septic systems?

We handle plumbing up to the tank — the line out of the house, clogs and breaks in that run. Tank pumping and leach field work goes to a septic contractor, and we'll point you at one we'd use ourselves.

What should I do with the plumbing before I leave on vacation?

Shut off the main water valve, so a failed hose or fitting cannot run for a week while you are gone. Turn the water heater down to its vacation setting. If you will be gone in winter, leave the heat on so the pipes do not freeze.

What does my recirculating pump do?

It keeps hot water moving through the pipes so it reaches the faucet in seconds, instead of running cold down the drain first. Most run on a timer or a sensor. If hot water has started taking a long time again, the pump or its timer is the first thing to check.

Do you do remodels and commercial work?

Yes. Remodels and new construction for homes and businesses, and commercial customers get the same service work we do for homes.

How do I shut the water off in an emergency?

Two places, and both are yours to use. Inside, there's usually a valve where the line enters the house — often the garage or a utility closet. Outside, on city water, there's a customer shutoff in its own small box or PVC tube on your side of the water meter.

Leave the valve inside the meter box alone. In Prescott that one belongs to the city, and the City of Prescott says only city crews operate it. If you can't find a shutoff of your own, call us or the city.

Go find both of them right now, before you need them. The worst time to learn where your shutoff is, is standing in an inch of water.

Didn't answer it?

No charge to come look and give you a number, and no pressure once we have.
